Each kit is available in a few standard sizes that include "header", 2 "legs" and a "hearth". Our Wood Mantel Kits are made to overlap Facing Surround Kits. Start by determining how much stone facing you want to show on each side and above your fireplace opening (local codes may dictate minimum clearance). After determining the exposed facing, you will want to account for mantel overlap. Generally, your total facing width should be a minimum of 1" wider than the distance between your mantel legs (C) and your facing height (facing leg height + facing header width) to be a minimum of ½" taller thanyour inside mantel height (B).

Polishing: Inside edges of our standard size Natural Stone Fireplace Surround pieces are polished and beveled. If you require a hearth cut down or if your outside edges will be visible (not hidden under a mantel), the exposed edges will need to be polished. Polishing is $15 per linear foot.
