I was cautiously optimistic when I ordered the Optimyst firebox. After researching, reading reviews, watching YouTubes of the unit but being unable to locate a dealer near me to see it in person, I ordered it. We are downsizing and moving into a condo on the beach. As most are, it is all electric with no possibility of even a unvented gas log fireplace. Would this Dimplex unit provide the realism and ambiance I desired? Absolutely!!! It surpassed my expectations and I'm still marveling at it's effect. It arrived two days after ordering it (Gulf Shores, AL). It arrived in one box, extremely well packaged and was sitting in place operating five minutes after cutting the packing bands. It only required opening the drawer, inserting the five provided bulbs, filling the reservoir with water and putting the batteries in the remote. Two clicks on the remote I has shimmering logs. Thirty seconds later wisps of smoke with the appearance being of a fire getting started. Fifth-teen seconds later flames appeared as if the logs had ignited. I'm still marveling at the affect. I've had real fireplaces, vented and non- vented gas logs and this surpasses them all. The "randomness" of the flames is mesmerizing and granted I'm looking with the most critical and skeptical of eyes. We ordered the firebox mainly because it had the heater component. It doesn't nor did I expect it to, provide enough heat for a large room. What it does is have enough heat output for you to stand or back up to and get the warmth that standing by a fireplace provides. Me and the dog sit on a stool by the fire, feel the warmth and glaze into it lost in thought like when I set around a campfire. Yeah, it is that good. It has also gotten the approval of the boss! My wife loves it!!! I was worried not seeing it in person that I was going to have a nice artificial fireplace but nothing but a nice artificial fireplace. My wife didn't want any she had seen in person at any price. She loves this Dimplex Optimyst. Now I can't wait to have the cabinet maker see it and design a surround for it. He and his parents have in excess of twenty high end condos and I believe this fireplace would be an asset to all of them. So there you go. If I sound excited it's because I'm so pleased with the product and it's realism. No problems with humidity. Bulbs came with it. Drawer stays closed after making sure the internal power cord slides back and as you close the drawer. I did open and close the drawer so much at first that I got an excess of water in the sump which hampered the flame output. Following the instructions in the owners manual it was easy to empty and I was back in business. So, that's my story I'm sticking to it.......

After searching online for the most realistic electric fireplaces I came across the Optimyst. I was a bit skeptical due to the price tag but after reading the reviews and looking at videos I was sold! The only complaint I have is that the bulbs did not come with the fireplace. When we set it up (without the bulbs) we thought it was broken. After calling for a service man to come we later realized the bulbs were missing. Once we received the bulbs and put them in...WOW!!! The flame is so realistic! One of the best purchases I've ever made!

I came across the Optimyst line during a Google search for the most realistic looking electric fireplace. I have a very large room that would be perfect with a fireplace, but I don't want to add a chimney, vent or gas line. Enter the Optimyst. I watched videos, looked at pics, and finally purchased the firebox with heater, opting to build the mantle myself. While the price tag is high, it is worth EVERY PENNY. The finished product looks amazing. Every person comments that we have the most beautiful GAS fireplace. We are considering buying another two inserts for other large rooms. Wood fireplaces are always the best, but considering heat loss, upkeep, and problems with keeping firewood near your house, I will choose this product every time.

We modified a wall unit in our living room to accommodate the Dimplex Opti-mist insert. The realism of the optimist without heat that is generated from a gas or wood fireplace are a definite plus in Florida. We are looking forward to enjoying our fireplace for many hours Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. You couldn't do that in Florida using a standard wood or gas fireplace. Thank You Dimplex!

I'm a picky shopper, and I don't mind paying a little more for something if I get my monies worth. That's certainly the case with our new OptiMyst. Everyone that sees it thinks it's the real deal. The flame effect is the best out there in my opinion (I compared it to all the top models). Adequate heat source for a small room, and simple plug in install. My only disappointment was that it did not come with glass in front or some sort of glass doors. Other than that, it was definitely worth the extra bucks!

We wanted a realistic looking fireplace as a centerpiece of our built-in entertainment unit. The OptiMyst 25" has, by far, the most realistic looking flames of any electric fireplace by virtue of the water vapour (which appears as smoke and flames). it's really incredible. The only problem (which may be inherent to the model) is that the drawer which houses the water and light bar does not want to stay closed (probably because of kinked cabling or the wiring harness). I resolved that by using disc magnets to hold the drawer closed.
