This new linear firebox from Dimplex is outstanding. It is top of the line. The flame bed is made from glass pieces that are colored and silvered on one side. This fireplace works perfect for my needs. I was looking for something short and wide to go under my 60" Plasma, and this fits perfect. I was building a room in the basement, so I was able to fully recess it in a 2x8 wall. Hard wiring the electric wasn't hard, but you have to almost completely disassemble the unit to hard wire it. The heater has a very quiet blower which is nice, but it does not put out near as much heat as other electric fireplaces I have used (this is the 4th one in my house)

I've never purchased a small item on line let alone a major fixture such as a fireplace for my den. I have professionals setting up the electrical outlets on the wall for the fireplace and the TV above it. I was very anxious to see the "flames" and the workers plugged the fireplace while it was still on the floor. I was pleased to see that it worked and now I am more anxious to see it fully set up on the wall. I live in a high rise condo (all electric) and cannot ever have a gas fireplace but I think this faux fireplace definitely is perfect for this room. I was pleased with the ordering and the delivery and now I am less apprehensive about ordering on line,

We purchased this unit based on the reviews of other customers for our bedroom. It was our plans to install the unit inside the wall. Our contractor open the wall and found our air condition ducts running through the area where we wanted to install the heater. Well, we loved it so much that we just had the contractor to wall mount the unit and it looks great. It does come out from the wall at least 7 inch, but for the wow factor and the daily enjoyment, we don't even think about it. The flames are realistic, not a real fire, and the unit is contemporary and clean lines. I think it would best to install in a wall if you can, with all that said, we love the unit and look for many years of enjoyment. by the way, we do have a log and gas burning fireplace downstair for the winter months, but this will help me go to bed a little earlier and don't feel like I am missig the fire in the main living area. Plan ahead and know what is behind your wall where you are considering installing the unit so that you will not have any disappointments.

I was actually fearful in this economy to enter my credit card number for that amount of money to a vendor that I had not done business with, but to my surpirse, the service and the delivery was pefecto as promised.
