The Dimplex Prism 74-Inch Electric Fireplace - BLF7451 creates a dramatic effect for your home, office or business. The large frame of this unit makes it quite the statement piece. Adding to the ambiance is a multi-sized diamond-like acrylic glass ember bed which perfectly reflects the lighting projections for a shimmering, whimsical effect. With the LED lit ember bed you can choose from any of the color choices - Clear, Blue, Green, Red, Teal, Yellow. You can also cycle through the complete color spectrum and pause on the color of your choosing. Fireplace is installed in a 30x30 great room. I was very pleased with the realistic flame effect and the design of the fireplace. As I live in Florida I thought it would be perfect as I would mostly be using it without heat. For that purpose it fits the bill. The problem came on the first cold night when I turned on the heater and realized how noisy it was with the heater fan running. At first I just turned the tv up so I could drown out the hum of the fireplace, but after awhile it just seemed to get louder and became very irritating. The other problem I have found when I run the heater is that it the temperature on the thermostat seems to drop rather than go up when the heater is running and it seems to read around 7 degrees lower than the air in my room. It is basically useless except for decorative purposes. Do not buy this product if you wish to run the heater. I wish I could have returned the unit, however, the wall was built around this fireplace so I am kind of stuck with it now.
