Q & A
The Dimplex Thompson Burnished Walnut Electric Fireplace Cabinet Mantel is a truly remarkable wall fireplace. It is packed with furniture quality features and design that include the burnished walnut finish, the detailing such as pilasters and panels, authentic metal log grate, and even the stepped hearth with a herringbone brick liner. There is also a very innovative feature included in the firebox, and that is the Optimyst feature. This uses a large water tank hidden inside of the contemporary fireplace and which makes the realistic flames also appear to smoke. This tank will run for 12-14 hours before it needs refilling and is still safe to run without water inside.
The hand finished logs with inner glow and pulsating embers also increase the effectiveness of the impression, and the modern fireplace is very convincing to see. The unit requires only a 120v outlet to perform, and the Electric Fireplace Mantel is meant as a focal point rather than a source of supplemental heating. The size of this Electric Fireplace Heater makes it a good choice for the home or office, and it would fit well within most decor. The walnut finish is warm and genuine and the ample mantle is great for any traditional decorative accessories. This Cabinet Fireplace also comes with a remote control for easy on/off, and you will repeatedly return to this feature for relaxation and socializing. Though this fireplace is not a source of supplemental heating, it is so good looking and effective that you will want to gather around it at all times of the year and during every season.
Comments about Dimplex Thompson Burnished Walnut Electric Fireplace Cabinet Mantel Package - GDS29-1262BW:
Bought for decorative piece that did not need a heater, wanted realistic flame. While the flame is realistic, the logs and embers are not. Making matters worse, the mechanism that creates the flame effect is extremely noisy and sounds like water dripping while the flame is on. Finally, the log unit stocks outs beyond the mantel opening, making it impossible to add a decorative screen.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
