The Harrison Builder Series stone mantel surround is part of a collection of four economical mantel kits that include an adjustable facing panel and a flat 1" hearth. Please call 888.493.8898 to get a quote for special firebox widths. We can accommodate most firebox width scenarios by adjusting the length of your shelf and can accommodate 3 piece facing or seamless facing to cover the gaps. The Adjustable Inset Panel will allow firebox opening heights between 32" and 40". Each mantel has variations in color and texture that captures the true essence of natural stone. Because this stone mantel is lightweight, preparation and installation are much easier and much less costly than traditional solid stone mantels. Special wall and floor reinforcement is not necessary for easy installation. Each stone mantel is fire resistant and allows for zero clearance from combustible material (no space required between firebox and this mantel material or surround facing), making it the perfect choice for gas or wood fireplaces.

Our Builder Series Stone Mantels are hand crafted by using old world techniques that create natural finishes with elaborate detail. Each finish has a special character. The molding process creates a strong, but relatively lightweight mantel. Natural Stone finishes are offered at no additional charge. Each Builders Series Mantel is made with a "thin cast" process which dramatically reduces weight and makes installation much easier and less costly.

Note: All cast Natural Stone products have a degree of expected variation in shade, texture and veining. These markings are all part of the stone, add to the beauty of the mantel pieces, and are to be expected.

Fitting Guide

Selecting the right size of your Builder Cast Stone Mantel is a simple process. Each mantel in this series has a few dimensions that can change within a range (see the dimension table for each mantel). Surround facing is also made to fit your firebox opening size and location from the floor. This flexibility means that, in most cases, you may choose the exact size that best fits your situation.

NOTE: If you prefer to have us do the work and suggest an appropriate size, click here for a measurement form.

Step 1: Mantel Opening Width "C"

This is the area between the legs of the mantel. To determine, start by figuring the actual firebox opening width by measuring the opening from side to side (don"t include any metal flange that you want to cover up). Once you have this measurement, decide how much surround facing that you would like to show between the legs of your mantel and the firebox opening width. A good rule of thumb is 6 - 8".

Your Mantel Opening Width "C"
=
firebox opening width
+
facing on each side
(If you choose to show 6" on each side, this will be 12")

Step 2: Mantel Opening Height "B"

This is the height of the inside of each mantel leg. To determine, start by figuring the actual firebox opening height by measuring the opening from top to bottom (include vents if applicable, but not any metal flange that you want to cover up). If your firebox opening is above the floor or desired hearth height, add this measurement to your firebox opening height. Once you have this measurement, decide how much surround facing that would like to show above your firebox opening. A good rule of thumb is 1 to 2 times what your showing on each side of the firebox opening.

Your Mantel Opening Height "B"
=
firebox opening height
+
height from floor
+
facing

Each mantel has a dimensional chart that gives you dimensions for other mantel parts and the math to figure what your Opening Width "C" and Opening Height "B" choices will mean for the Overall Mantel Width and Overall Mantel Height. Be sure to check these to insure that you have enough room on your wall, free of obstacles like windows, doors and light switches.

Rest assured that we will not process any order without reviewing and confirming all measurements with you. Click here for a measurement form.

Optional Hearths
We can create the perfect hearth for your mantel. Hearths are available in 1" heights and above. In most cases you will want your hearth length, to match the Overall Length "D" of your mantel. Standard hearth depth is 20" (other depths by request).

Overmantels can be created in any height to complement your mantel and ceiling height. Special accommodations can be made in each style for plasma television access or other.
