Just thought I would drop you a note to say thank you. The mantel arrived in great condition and installing it was really easy following the instructions. However i was off slightly due to existing slant of fireplace wall and had to use some other boards for the side cover boards. Used a grooved decorative board which fit well with the style we ordered.
I would definitely recommend your product and service to anyone. We have had several guests and friends drop over and they were amazed that we did this ourselves. I did explain we used your service. Great big THANKS!

I know it's been awhile, but my husband and son-in-law put up the mantel and I painted it which took some time. Then I wanted to decorate for the holidays. I just wanted to write and say we got our mantel yesterday and it's absolutely beautiful. To be quite frank, we weren't expecting much for $200. All we ordered was a paint quality poplar mantel, nothing fancy, replacing the crappy old tract home 6x6 square eyesore. We got way more than we thought we would. It is truly a well thought out, well crafted addition to our home, made with pride by D. Gargis (Thank you D. Gargis, wherever you are). Seems a shame to paint it.
Anyway, thought you guys might want to hear that you're doing something right. And when we move into our next home (the one where we go all out), we'll find you again.

We're so impressed with the result - the rock on the old fireplace was dark and ugly, and the total image was dull and drab. Compare that to our "new" Mantels Direct Shasta model - we love it. Roberta is going to do a mural of Mount Shasta on the breast which will complete the "new" image. Being a part time contractor and home remodeler I appreciate the excellent quality of material. We ordered the unpainted poplar - the condition of all surfaces was smooth and true. The assembly was a snap, 2 hours from opening the box to attaching the mantel to the wall. Please give the craftsman who custom built our mantel a "high-five" from us.

The quality of the
Montrose Electric Fireplace is like it was built in the early 1900s;
Solid as a rock and built to last forever. It is a work of art that
is very hard to find nowadays. What a piece of furniture, wow! The
mantel is made of all good grade hardwood and is easy to assemble.
When it's only using a few watts and emitting no heat, it looks like
it's going full bore. Can't wait for tonight to try it with heat;
it's going to be awesome.

Here is the finished product. All in all I am quite pleased with how it came out. I was really impressed by how genuine the mantel felt while working with the material. No MDF or fiberboard. For quality you guys get an A+! This project was about a difficulty of 2 out of 4. BTW, I am just a typical homeowner with some fairly handy skills, I am in no way a contractor or professional installer.

Hi! Just a note to recommend a GREAT PLACE to get a replacement mantel shelf for your fireplace! Ours was plain and bare, so we priced them at Home Depot - they wanted over $400 for a custom mantel shelf!
So, I found mantelsdirect.com on the internet. The website was easy to use, the pictures were great and the prices were fantastic!! Free shipping and NO Sales Tax! Our mantle came this week and it looks great! (see picture). Mantlesdirect.com also has full mantels as well as mantel shelves!
